On Tuesday evening, April 28th, Hamazkayin of New Jersey hosted a presentation by Raffi Kortoshian of his new book Artsakh: Endangered Heritage (Արցախ Վտանգուած Ժառանգութիւն) at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Paramus, New Jersey. V. Rev. Fr. Vache Balekjian, Pastor of Sts. Vartanantz Church in Ridgefield, New Jersey, Archpriest Fr. Mesrob Lakissian, Pastor of the St. Illuminator's Cathedral, and Mrs. Arevig Caprielian, member of the Central Committee of Hamazkayin, attended, together with members of Hamazkayin's regional and local chapters.
Mr. Kortoshian was visiting from Armenia, where he is an architectural engineer and Armenologist, and co-director of the Research on Armenian Architecture Foundation there. His work focuses on documenting and protecting Armenian historical monuments, raising awareness about their destruction, and advocating for their preservation. Mr. Kortoshian's book is the second volume of a work that explores the rich yet critically endangered Armenian cultural heritage of Artsakh through extensive research and photography. The project was initiated by Hamazkayin and developed in collaboration with cultural preservation institutions.
Tuesday's event began with welcoming remarks by Mrs. Flora Koshkerian, the chairlady of the New Jersey chapter, who introduced Mr. Kortoshian and his book. In her remarks, Mrs. Koshkerian recognized Der Mesrob as one of the sponsors of the first volume of Mr. Kartoshian's book.
After Mr. Kortoshian's presentation, Hayr Vache and Der Mesrob conducted a Kinetson ceremony for the newly published books. The evening concluded with closing remarks by Hayr Vache.
