We often convince ourselves that we're in control. We plan and strategize with such certainty that we begin to believe we know the outcomes before they even unfold.
A year ago, together with my colleague, we picked out a village in Northern Armenia called Tavush– to start creating a new community for families displaced from Artsakh. When we saw the place, the mountains and the lake, we immediately thought: How similar is this to Martuni? (Martuni was one of the big cities of Artsakh).
When I visited Tavush again this month to oversee our Internship Program volunteers working with Artsakh families, I saw something that we hadn’t predicted at all. More than 25 families had gathered around the ones we had moved ourselves, and a community was being formed from the very small seeds that we had planted just a year ago. And the first thing they had said to each other was: This place is just like Martuni.
When you see that transcendence is at work in everything you do, your perspective shifts. And once you understand that you can release your need for "control" and take rest, you realize that you were never in control to begin with.
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you...”
Thank you for your support & belief in AMAA’s mission work.
