INSPARK Awardees Announced. Helping shape the future of the Lebanese Armenian community through creativity

INSPARK! Putting creativity at the heart of the Lebanese Armenian community

In May 2025, the Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation launched a unique grant programme called INSPARK.

This new initiative reinforces the Foundation’s commitment to the Lebanese Armenian community by focusing on its youth. It is an invitation to embark on a creative journey of self-discovery and critical engagement.

Nineteen proposals were received, from which ten were chosen to be awarded a grant. The high quality and diversity of the proposals were striking. They included anthropological perspectives, multidisciplinary research approaches and geopolitical analysis. Some were poetic and socially rooted, while others used humour and storytelling to engage with issues. Through their INSPARK applications, Armenian youth in Lebanon demonstrated their creativity and drive to cultural revival, their understanding of the rich social fabric of their community, and their commitment to take part in shaping its future.

The applicants included, naturally and organically, Western Armenian in their projects, reinforcing the language as an inseparable part of the Lebanese-Armenian community.
