Yerevan, June 13, 2025 – On the occasion of its 70th anniversary, Haigazian University held a formal reception at the Marriott Armenia Hotel in Yerevan, bringing together distinguished guests from the academic, cultural, diplomatic, and ecclesiastical sectors of Armenia and beyond.
The reception, that lasted for two hours, was hosted by Haigazian University President Rev. Dr. Paul and Maral Haidostian, Board of Trustees Chairperson Dr. Hasmig Baran, Vice Chairperson Mr. John Sagherian, ADRC director Dr. Antranig Dakessian, and AMAA Armenia Director Mr. Aren Deyirmenjian.
Among the honored guests were the rectors of Yerevan State University and Khachatur Abovian Pedagogical University, the president of the American University of Armenia, the former president of the State University of Artsakh, as well as directors and deputy directors of the History Museum of Armenia, the Hovhannes Sharambeyan Folk Art Museum, the Sardarabad Ethnographic Museum, the Komitas Museum-Institute, and the Terenig Temirdjian Museum. Also in attendance were senior officials from the Armenian Genocide Museum Institute, the National Library of Armenia and the Library of the Academy of Sciences, the heads of humanities institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia (NAS RA), researchers from the Institutes of Oriental Studies, Ethnography, History, and Linguistics, the director of the AMAA Avedisian School, a representative of the Holy See of Etchmiadzin and Armenian Evangelical Churches, the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Armenia, and the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia.
The guest list also included Haigazian University alumni from both Lebanon and Armenia, cultural figures, researchers, editors, publishers, former diplomats, business leaders, and friends of the university. In the entrance hall leading to the reception, 70 posters were exhibited, showcasing significant milestones in the university’s history, academic mission, student life, and public engagement.
Following a presentation about the history of HU, words of welcome were delivered by President Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian and Dr. Hasmig Baran, who both expressed gratitude and appreciation for the university’s far-reaching impact and the meaningful partnerships cultivated over the decades.
The evening served as a unique and festive opportunity for guests to reconnect, network, and celebrate shared values and collaborations. Many of the attending scholars had previously participated in academic conferences hosted by Haigazian University, contributed to the Haigazian Armenological Review, or visited the university as guest lecturers, workshop leaders, or alumni engaged in professional development programs. For many, the reception was a rare occasion to gather with colleagues across generations, disciplines, and geographies in a spirit of collegiality and celebration.
